About Us
The Safe Repair Project is an initiative of The American Consumer Institute Center for Citizen Research, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational and research institute, whose core mission is to promote consumer welfare.
More often than not, public policies at the federal and state level can have more costs than benefits to consumers if not appropriately considered. We believe in consumer sovereignty — the freedom for consumers to make their own choices and the importance of giving consumers better information to make those choices, instead of having “others” choose for them.
This principle is critical for the debate around a consumer’s right to repair. There are important, foundational challenges that exist in this debate with regard to certain industries, like medical devices and surgical equipment.
